Yeepage.com

I'm hooked to a lot of 'Make Money Online' blogs lately, not that i'm looking to make money online anytime soon, but these blogs are pretty good. Every possible money making technique is researched extensively by these bloggers and every single way to earn money is milked to the maximum possible extent, so reading these blogs is like learning completely new stuff, and also anything related to money is interesting. Right ? Though there are a lot of biggies like johnchow.com and shoemoney.com in this category of online money making blogs, there are other beginners or mid level blogs that catch the eye, One such blog is Yeepage.com. If i remember right i reached Yeepage through a review on Blogging fingers a month back. The best part about Yeepage is that the owner Simon is just a beginner in the huge world of make money online blogs. And that helps cos' you can connect better with blog posts like his than the other professional bloggers. He has a few useful features on his blog like his weekend links package. In those posts he links back to those who take part in the discussion on his blog and a few other interesting posts, and again you can never expect such stuff from a pro blogger. Overall pretty good site, you should drop by Yeepage sometime.

And, now Simon is having a contest on his blog. Click here for details.

And click here to reach the home page.

Cheers ..

My Blogging Plans - November 07

The purpose of this post is to archive my blogging goals for the coming months.

Those of you who did not know already, i've started actively promoting my blog through sites like Orkut. If you reached here through Orkut that means i'm starting to succeed( pretty heavy term !). This blog was started with no initial plans or purpose, a year back i just needed a place to put down my write up on my first ever biking trip, so happened my first post this January, and like any other newbie i sucked at this, but i must say i've managed to learn quite a few things about blogging the past one year i've been here, though i've not been a very frequent poster.

Now coming back to things on hand, I'm looking to take things forward from here, so obviously my first step must be to increase my blog readership, but i have very limited choices.

The initial difficulties i'm facing right now, when i'm looking to get a foot hold on the blogosphere are , ( these are problems i think every newbie faces )

1. A good blog requires simple good content if not extraordinary content, but i neither have the time nor the skills to create good content ( honest !). But then i guess the only way to learn is through persistence, and i guess i'm improving at a pretty decent rate. Also another observation successful blogger's are not always great writers, so it really doesn't matter. But, If you are good at writing already, thats a bonus.

2. I can't have a separate domain for my blog, at least not right now. So i'll have to stick to Blogspot.com for now. And that makes it impossible for me to get readers through search engines, if you didn't already know - most new blog visits happens from search engines. I really don't have any other choice but to promote my blog through social networking sites, online forums etc. And i think a site has a better chance of visitors with a own domain name. But still the chances of me getting a own domain any time soon is very remote. Thats still a distant dream for me. But then, Blogger works fine for me.

3. The web is too huge for a newbie like me, take this for instance, there are over 235,000 bloggers on Blogspot.com from India, then there are sites like Wordpress.com, Stumbleupon.com and many more. I'm just a tiny speck in the sky. Of course i can take solace in the fact that; though the number of bloggers is so huge, you generally don't have a problem getting readership if you are good at what you do. Bottomline: I need to get better. ( Long way to go )

4. Also having a network of already established bloggers is just great, cos you can always get referrals from them, a single blog post on their blog about you starting up will bring a stream of visitors your way, but sadly i don't have such a network. I'm going to have to rely on my individual efforts alone. But then i have a few like minded newbie bloggers like myself, which i think will suffice. We just have to get it on its feet, then the rest will fall in place ( hoping !)...

So, that was just a small preview on the difficulties in seeing success with a new blog.

Here is how i intend to tackle them,

1. I'll be trying to create better content, also i should be posting more frequently henceforth.

2. Promote my blog even more, need to get the support of all my friends.

3. I should get a domain name for myself as soon as i can afford it. That way i can't have better site design and a improved layout. Though i must say Blogspot is pretty good for a free service.

Also i'm looking to do a few online jobs, not get rich quick schemes, but simple data entry jobs with normal payouts. I'll be posting soon about my experiences. If i find some good ways, i'll put up those ideas for sure.

Also you can help me by ,

1. Being a regular reader, please bookmark my blog and check in maybe twice a week for updates. Also you could subscribe to my RSS feed and read my blog posts on the reader of your choice.

2. Clicking on the ads you are interested in. But please understand; i'm not forcing anyone to click on ads on my site- cos' that will be Click Fraud, just visit the links you find interesting and you could help me in a big big way ...

3. Giving me backlinks or reviews in your own blog. That would be great, just mentioning my blog someplace would get me visitors, for which i'll be really thankful. Also very soon i'll be posting a lot of excerpts from the interesting posts i find anywhere.

4. Participating in my blog, by commenting on posts, criticism is always welcome. And also it helps to know people are reading your blog.

Thats pretty much all for now, also there could be slightly reduced activity for the next one month, cos' i'm having my semester exams this month. In a month all my plans will start rolling full time.

Thanks for your support !!

Cheers ..

P.S: Right now i'm getting around 4-5 unique visitors a day leaving out the regulars ( my friends who've supported me through their comments on each post ), but even most of the new visitors are just curious clickers and they really don't read the posts.

My immediate goal will be to increase daily visits to maybe 20 a day.Thats a pretty stiff target really.

Looking to achieve that target in another 3 months time.

Festival Of Lights = Crap !!

I feel Diwali is the most overrated Indian festival ever. Every Indian throughout the world celebrates Diwali, even in places like US of A, UK and Canada this festival is really popular, the Indian communities abroad brand Diwali as the only Indian festival, and most Indian communities abroad have celebrations for this day.

Well celebrating a festival is one thing, but if no one really knows what the festival symbolizes, then whats the point really. But then its the same with every single festival, right? Most of us just know them all as a recurring holiday every single year, and some people even relate festivals to special day-long shows on the Idiot Box. So why did i pick Diwali in particular to bash ?

Ya, Today is Diwali, so won't make any sense if i write about anything else , Right ? Or ...

This maybe is cos' of my personal fallout with fireworks off late, well i just seem to miss the point if there was one in the first place, What good comes out of fireworks ? Damn . Fireworks maybe is second on my list of most useless inventions by man, the first is of course ( brace yourself !!) a Ride Control Switch on a Bajaj Platina ( i suck at thinking up analogies, you see ), Crap !! The bike fucking does not go past 60 Kmph anyways .. Okies , now coming back to my original point, Fireworks suck. Whats the point in setting fire to your own money ? This certainly proves a point that we humans will do anything if given a faintly believable story behind it ( in this case, the story says we need to celebrate the killing of a bad man, a hundred thousand years ago, wow thats so believable, so they had fireworks even then ?). What happened to that thing called ' Brains' ?

Maybe there was a proper explanation for all this sometime, but i'm sure it got lost cos' nobody cared about such stuff. And till i'm convinced otherwise, i will retain this view of mine.

Anyways i guess my point is made, Stay away from fireworks cos they really are so useless, they are such a waste of money, i guess the reason i'm making this post is cos' i happened to see long queues at every cracker shop, instead they could just take the money home and burn it tomorrow. Whatever ..

Anyways if festival time ..

So here is me, Wishing Everybody A Very Happy And Colorful Diwali sans Fireworks.

You could read up more on Diwali here.

BTW this is just my POV, just drop a comment giving me yours ..

Cheers...

Relationships ...

This blog post was originally going to be titled ' Love', but then i decided against it, cos' i feel Love is such an ambiguous term. I guess everybody's been in love some time, and i'm sure each one has an own definition for 'Love', a definition which might make sense to you, or some might even not bother to think of a definition, cos' maybe all they need is the warmth it gives. But i guess one point is really clear from all this, love is certainly good, so good that everyone wants it, even the people who claim they are better off without it actually crave for it. At least in my opinion they do.

And now if love is a good thing, then why is it so messy all the time ? I'm sure no one ever has had a perfect love life ever. Right ? So whats the reason behind it being screwed up all the time.

There is a saying that goes something like (crap!) Love is unselfish and stuff like that, but even the guy who wrote that knew that wasn't true. How am i so sure about this ? , cos' thats how we humans are made to be. So if those words were to be true then i guess we humans can't be in Love. Each one of us is selfish, but the problem with being in love or having a relationship is you're expected to be unselfish( mebbe cos' everyone believes those words ' Love is unselfish'), or maybe its again just human nature to expected the impossible from everyone else around you. And you expect so much from your so called partner, cos' you both are supposed to be in love, right ? So starts the chain of expectations( BTW i'm not gender biased in anyway, i swear, but if my post seems to be biased towards picking female behavior to bash , then i'm sorry it was unintentional(but i can't help it tho'... This blog is mine [;-)])

So with expectations sky-rocketing, every relationship should get screwed up sooner or later. But, why do some relationships last longer than others ? Coming to that, i need to go into the kinds of relationships( according to me), first there are couples who aren't really serious, and they don't hesitate to admit that, but they find each other interesting, and mebbe worth spending time with, so they stick together, everything is fine at least for the time being. We're not going to discuss them anymore in this post. And then there are these couples who are trying to having a serious relationship, the guy thinks this is the girl for him, and vice versa, and they really intent on making it work, but they are confused, they really don't know what they need and where it is finally going, cos' the whole relationship has no logic or a foundation, they are just people who 'think' they are perfect for each other, but fail to understand that ' thinking' alone wont be sufficient, but then they don't hesitate to tell everyone - ' We're together for life'. They tend to stay together a little longer than the first kind, but then it usually go the long way. And finally there is this couple( not plural, to maybe imply there are very few people in this category) who are together, maybe they're not the perfect pair, but then they actually realize in the true sense that they can actually make the relationship work with some effort from both of them, and for that they are ready to be logical, in short these are the brainy people who are ready to make it work, and who know how to make it work. And by now you must've understood where i'm leading you, of course it is the third class of couples who manage to get together and be together.

My point therfore is, the success or worthiness of a relationship is purely based on what the people involved are ready to give up for each other, and also whether they have a resolve to keep it going. Now this is in direct conflict with the human behavior i spoke about earlier, Right ? I was so sure when i said no human can be unselfish, i think thats holds good even now. But then how on earth is it possible to sacrifice little things for your partner, when even a little sacrifice would qualify as being unselfish ?

You :Are you nuts ?? You are just contradicting yourself, that too in the same post... Loser ..

Me: That is exactly what i've been trying to say here, to make a relationship work, you need a super-human effort.

So people out there, you need to actually take a extra-ordinary effort to make a relationship work, because a relationship requires two humans to succeed, and thats the worst possible thing. Never will two human souls ever think alike. So to make it work you need a lot of effort. But its totally worth is, like is said Love is obviously a good thing .. Right ?

Now i guess this answers the queries of those few people, who ask me ' Why aren't you committed da? ' . Like i said Love requires EFFORT. I'm too LAZY ...

P.S: When i put up posts like this, i need to get some replies, else i'll go crazy .. so do the needful, on a more serious note, you should leave your thoughts on 'Relationships' here ..

EQ Shoot ..

Another topic to rant about ...

Yesterday i got to be at the EQ shoot, my college was performing in the TV show called Entertainment Quotient. And i was there to cheer for them. This because they managed to get through multiple rounds of auditions, and students from our college participating in such a event is quite rare, this is cos' the support from the college is absolutely zilch, and most of the times they even end up discouraging the interested. So it was Vijay and Me, just decided to drop in and do our little bit.

Anyways, the shoot was happening at Prasad Studios, this actually was my second TV shoot experience. Once during school times a couple of students from my class participated in this quiz on DD. And even for that i got to go along to cheer for them. These TV shoots are particularly tiring and boring, because they are so stupid and for that reason they are funny too. Everything is too fake, they tell us when to cheer, and the anchor's lines are so boring, and their comments are so fake, and most of the times you'll have to endure retakes of those crappy lines. So i was prepared for the worst.

The EQ shoot lived up to my expectations, the shoot part of it was really boring. But i didn't complain this was cos' i had my own share of fun too, thanks to the girls from Sathyabama University. I think in addition to competing for the EQ title they had a internal competition running to find who was the bitchiest dressed. And like i said any sort of competition interests me. So i was tuned in anyway. Jokes aside i think they were just dressed fine, maybe a little too revealing than required, but that was all. What actually made us sit up and notice was the huge drought we are facing in our college ( more on this later. That sure will be a juicy post !!). So what just was normal for everyone else, becomes interesting for us. Bottomline: We were having fun !!

Moving on, the reason we were there was that Sajith from the Sabhe - and also some other classmates were in the music troupe. And also the song they were performing was composed by Sajith. Extra reason to cheer ? Our college was competing against Sathyabama Univ. and Jerusalem Engineering College, both these colleges had a very good team, so it was going to be real hard for us, newbies. The judges for the event were Pop Shalini and some other dancer guy whose name i didn't get.

First on stage was the music teams from each college. Sathyabama went up first. Awesome performance, there was this female lead singer, Aparna who sang Poo Pookum Osai . Her voice was simply awesome, and also her expressions were really sweet. But then their score wasn't all that good, cos' they just performed a song from a movie. So they lost out on marks for creativity. Next on stage was our team, their performance was real good. Rekha the female lead singer was particularly awesome, she has a real sweet, real singer kinda voice. We got a very good score, cos the song was new, extra marks for the creativity. Awesome !! Next on stage was the team from Jerusalem, they had a lot of singers on stage, all of them were really good, but just like the first team they lost out points for lack of creativity. So at the end of the Music performances our college was in the lead. But i must say this, no offence meant to anyone,i'm just writing what i feel, the performances by Sathyabama and Jerusalem was far more entertaining, and they certainly deserved better scores. But then in the end it evened out i must say. How ? Read on ...

Next was the dance performances, remember me talking about all the eye candy from Sathyabama, they were all in the dance team. So we got ready for a visual treat, regardless of their performance. But they were actually very good, very stylish show, And they got perfect 10's from both the judges. So now they were in the lead, if we had to catch up we really needed very good scores this round .Next up our team, again no offence to anyone, i really did not expect much. And as expected they were just mediocre. There were a few good dancers, the rest of them just were fill-ins, the previous team had set the bar real high, and they just couldn't match them. Result: Screwed up scores. We were out of the race !! Next was the Jerusalem, dancers were in crotch hugging, skin tight costumes( i dunno what made me mention this) But the dancers were real good, the coordination was great, we really could feel the amount of effort they put into the performance. But the judges did not feel the same way, so they got pretty low scores, that dancer guy said their style was too old and stuff. Arsehole just cos' he learnt hip-hop from some bitch in Canada( he said that on air, and i guess there is no way to find out whether thats true) doesn't mean everyone should perform hip-hop.I dunno why, but that comment really pissed me off. Personally i think hip-hop is crap. Oversized clothes for men, tight bottoms for women, loads of fake attitude. Well thats my POV. Whatever .. .

Anyways thus ends my rant on the EQ shoot. Nice way to spend a evening.

P.S: Later Sajith was adjudged the Best Performer of the day. Thats really cool.. Congrats macha ..

P.P.S: That dancer guy was in this Ad on TV. An Ad for construction metal rods, He was dancing on a field, typical street dappankuthu . Too bad they didn't let him perform hip-hop. I dunno why i said this .. Chillax now ..

This episode will be telecast sometime soon on Vijay TV, try catching it then and see the performances for yourselves.

Cheers..
